Description
Microsoft’s Windows Server 2019 Standard is a good fit for small-to-medium-sized businesses operating in a physical or minimally virtualized environment. This is a core-based license; that means you will need to license each of the cores on the CPU. This product licenses up to 16 cores. In addition to licensing, you also need to license each client accessing your copy of the Windows Server Standard edition through a CAL.
Windows Server 2019 Standard really cranked up the security game and protection. Not nearly as old school as previous Server versions, it does offer things like HCI and hybrid Azure features. Windows Server 2019 is basically allowing you to enjoy both worlds, in the sense that you can be leveraging cloud services while you continue to work on your on-premises server for those legacy apps which have not yet hit the cloud.
